Breaking: Former Minister Graham Douglas Is Dead

 

 

A close associate disclosed that  Former Minister Graham-Douglas died in the early hours of Monday at an hospital in Abuja, FCT.

The deceased was a two-time minister and a relations expert. A kalabari High Chief Priest in River state where the minister hails from, chief Martins N Yellowe confirmed the death of the minister, he said he has been sick for some time now.

Graham-Douglas in 1986 served as the Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Culture in the Rivers State.

Military president, Ibrahim Babangida in 1989 appointed Graham-Douglas as the Minister for Social Development, Youths and Sports.

Graham-Douglas in 1992 emerged as the chairman of the Southern Minorities Movement, one of the groups that eventually merged into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He lost to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the presidential primaries of the PDP in 1998.

Graham-Douglas served as minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity under Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

Shortly after his 80^th Birthday in 2019 he was interviewed and one of his words was ‘’No body ever reaches the octogenarian stage. In my family, I have passed through the shadow of death. I think I am luckier than most of my brothers. I am very elated have reached the age of 80’’
