Police Confirm Release Of Abducted Daughters Of Murdered Former National Population Commission Boss In Nasarawa

 Former Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) who was recently Murdered Zakari Umaru-Kigbu,two daughters has been released by their abductors.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State, ASP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the release of the victims on Wednesday

Mr Nansel said the children were rescued by security personnel.

He confirmed that the two girls have been reunited with their family after undergoing medical tests at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital.

He, however, said he could not confirm if a ransom was paid.

But a family source confirmed to that N30 million was paid as ransom to the abductors before the girls were released.

It reported on Sunday  how terrorists killed Umaru-Kigbu and abducted two of his daughters at Azuba, a suburb of the capital city of Nasarawa State, Lafia.

The deceased, a retired Air Force officer, was a kinsman of the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.

He served as an agent to former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku in the just concluded Nasarawa Peoples Democratic Party primary before Maku’s eventual withdrawal from the governorship race.

It was gathered that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N50 million for the release of the abducted two daughters.

Nansel had said, “We received a distress call at about 12:15 am about the attack and reacted swiftly by mobilizing our patrol teams and the military to the scene.

“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim had been shot in his abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“His two daughters were abducted to an unknown destination. The command has commenced an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
