ASUU, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to continue the current strike if the Federal Government does not accept its demands.
Emmanuel Osodeke, ASUU’s National Chairman stated that the union will meet and perhaps prolong the strike if the government did not accept its demands
Osodeke told reporters that President Muhammadu Buhari could order Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to manage the negotiations.
He said “Where we are now, we will take the case above the minister, the president can direct the Vice President to handle it, he is a Professor, but they are busy running around the country.
“We will continue to be on strike; we will meet in one or two weeks and look at the situation, and if nothing, we will roll it over again, but I expect them to come and resolve this problem in the interest of the children.”
ASUU had been on strike since February 2022. Despite several meetings between ASUU and the Federal Government, the ongoing industrial action has continued
